TRIP WHILDEN set his first lobster trap at 8 years old and never looked back. A dedicated member of the Rhode Island fishing and aquaculture communities, Whilden Fisheries blends decades of ocean experience and innovative oyster husbandry techniques to create the classic New England oyster. It’s a passion, one he shares with son Gage Whilden and the rest of the Matrix crew.

At Wickford Oyster, its our mission to ensure that only the highest caliber oysters reach your table. Our oysters are hearty, wintered over, with deep cups and round shells. Bottom culture gear allows us to set our oysters in nutrient rich flowing waters of the Naragansett Bay. If it doesn’t meet our standards, it won’t reach your table!
